The KSD301 series thermostat operates on the principle of bimetal discs that snap into action with temperature changes. This snap action activates internal contacts to open or close circuits. Key features include fixed working temperatures, reliable snap action, minimal flashover, long service life, and reduced radio interference.

The temperature sensing components consist of bimetallic strips. When reaching the action temperature range, the disc jumps quickly to disconnect. The contacts won't reset until the circuit is manually reconnected by pressing the reset button (requires 4-6N force). The temperature must decline by 20°C after snap action before resetting. For proper function, maintain at least 20.4mm between reset button and cover.

Similar bimetallic strip components automatically reset when temperature declines to a fixed point, restarting operation without manual intervention.
